Brunch today in Harrogate was sadly another fine example of Style over Substance. I should of known with all the staff wearing denim aprons and heavy swing towards the ‘Man Bun’.
I went for the Scandinavian Gravlax with potatoe cake. If Scandinavian is code for flavourless and under seasoned then they hit the mark, but sadly I don’t think this was the aim.
When a dish has so few components it doesn’t take much for the whole thing to fall apart. Mash Potatoe is does not a cake make...undercooked poached egg, with a sea of watery egg white spewing from the centre...and salmon that had been teased with a cure...all in disappointing.
But like any person who doesn’t deal with confrontation, I ate what I could...and left.
If it wasn’t for the cute 7wk old baby sitting next to me, this would have been a far worse dinning experience.
Baltzersens in Harrogate it’s a score off 10/20 for you.
